Cameron Benson is a Geelong based artist. Cameron’s mother was of English- Scottish origin, while his father was born under a gum tree on the dry river bed of the Todd river in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. He was of the Eastern Arrernte people. Cameron’s artistic inspiration came from his mother who was also an artist with a passion for drawing and painting. Cameron often watched his mother as she would paint and draw. Cameron’s style has elements of traditional Aboriginal x-ray art and dot painting with a modern twist, using bright and vibrant colours. Cameron gets immense enjoyment from painting, creating his interpretation of what he sees in nature. From a child, Cameron has always been proud to be of Aboriginal decent, having the ancestry of the original inhabitants of the great south land, Australia.
