Joshua Riley

I was born in Melbourne and learnt my culture while living in Aboriginal Boy’s Homes.

Most of my cultural knowledge came from the other boys and the Elders.

I have always been artistic and have tired all sorts of mediums. In 2015 I met a Barranbinya (NSW) Elder while in custody, and we painted together a lot.

I am part of the “Torch project” which provides art and cultural support to Indigenous offenders and ex-offenders. Through this program I have sold many pieces, and also painted some art through consignment.

To know people like my work makes me feel pretty good!
