Matthew Delaney-Cain

I was born in Katoomba in NSW on Wiradjuri Country.  My Grandparents told me I was Aboriginal, but it took me a while to discover what this meant and my connections.

When I was young, I struggled growing up due to the racism which was around me.  My mental health has suffered due to this and other reasons, and it is a daily struggle for me.

Being Aboriginal is a lifestyle which we live.  We must walk lightly, a we belong to the Country.  For me this is a deep meaning.

When I do my art, it is my expression of my culture.  It keeps me calm and if anyone likes my art, this is a bonus. I refer to my art as “Mad Dog Art”.
