This is not simply a painting of a cassowary—it represents Gindaja, a totem of the Yidinji people.

In Yidinji culture, totems are much more than symbols. They are spiritual emblems that connect individuals and clans to their Ancestors, Country, and cultural identity. They carry stories, responsibilities, and a deep respect for the natural world, reminding each generation of their enduring connection to the land.
