Vanessa Jones

Born in Ballarat, I spent the first seven years of my life in Alice Springs. Those early years in the red centre was a beautiful and formative time, immersed in Indigenous culture, landscapes, and stories that continue to influence me today. For many years I heard whispers of Indigenous ancestry in my family, but it was only recently that I discovered my ancestors were apart of the Stolen Generation. This revelation has brought new depth and meaning to my practice. Working with clay feels like coming home — an instinctive, joyful connection to the earth that grounds me. My art is both an expression of identity and a peaceful escape, a space where I can process, reclaim, and celebrate.
