Bec Bux

I was born in Ballarat and have lived here all my life.  When I was at High School, I felt connected to my best friend, who was a First Nation’s person.

At the age of 18, I received a letter from my Uncle John who was working at the Ballarat & District Aboriginal Cooperative.  He told me my Father was related to his wife, and so he was indigenous.  With this information, I tried to find out more , but neither my Father or Grandfather would discuss it.

As the years have progressed, I have found out more about my Yorta Yorta mob, and hope to eventually meet more family members and get to know more about my culture.

I use my art work as therapy, to relax me after a stressful day.  I enjoy creating usually only for family, but now I am creating for others and you!

I hope you enjoy my pieces as much as I enjoy bringing them to you.
