Trevor Mitchell

I was born in Mildura Victoria, and raised on a mission on Barkindji Country.  I spent a lot of time with my Aunty Sharon, who taught me to paint and learn about symbols.  I learnt my culture through my mob and my Elders.

I started to paint while I was incarcerated, and was part of the “Torch Project” which provides art and cultural support to Indigenous offenders and Ex-Offenders.  I learnt a lot more art skills and have now sold about 100 pieces of art.

Painting relaxes me, and has helped me cope with life.  I have been residing in Ballarat since 2020.
